Ayurvedic Cleansing

Bi-Annual Seasonal Ayurvedic Cleanse

In Ayurveda it is recommend to cleanse during the transitional seasons of Spring and Fall. These special times of year are occasions of equality between day and night. They are typically not too hot or not too cold. More balance in the environment can support our efforts in creating balance internally. Historically there are many cultures and religions that have practices that restrict diets and offer a type of cleansing during this time. Humans have been attuned to this need and feel called to shift things during these swing seasons. In Ayurveda we cleanse to clear and purge any excess doshas that have accumulated in our system. In the spring we cleanse to clear any accumulated cold and damp from the Vata/Kapha winter season that can lead to heaviness, allergies, lethargy, weight gain, sluggishness etc. In the Fall we cleanse to clear any excess heat from the Pitta summer sun that has accumulated. Excess heat effects our body in a certain way that can lead to dryness or skin rashes and eruptions. Excess heat in our digestive tract leads to malabsorption, indigestion and over acidity. Taking two weeks twice a year to reset and restore digestion can have lasting effects on our health and stave off illness and disease.

WE DO NOT RECOMMEND CLEANSING OR DETOXING WHILE PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING

Our two week seasonal cleanse can be done self-paced or in our group setting. Both options come with plenty of guidance, videos and support along your cleansing journey.

During these two weeks you will find some parts easy and some challenging. That is natural, it is designed to have you meet some edges as well as bring in some tapasya or discipline. It is within this container that we can find freedom and balance.  This process will have you doing a lymphatic detox, by repairing the intestinal villi, thinning and flushing the bile and cleansing the liver. You will boost your nutrient absorption. Your mood and energy can improve. You may find balance in your blood sugar and increased digestive strength. You’ll burn fat while you sleep great!

This cleanse is divided into four parts or phases, each with recipes, lifestyle support practices and journal prompts to make this a holistic and effective experience. We begin with phase one, The Warm Up, where we are focused on eliminating common allergens, strengthening our digestive power and awakening our body’s detox processes. This phase has you eating lots of food! Seeds, nourishing seasonal soups, bowls and more! Phase two, The Main Event is the Kitchari phase. While we are on a mono diet of kitchari we are also adding increasing amount a ghee which functions as a gallbladder flush. The mono diet of kithcari allows our digestive system to not work as hard on digesting and metabolizing different foods and instead can focus on eliminating the toxins we have been moving from our outer periphery of our lymph and blood to our gastro-intestinal system where it can be eliminated. Phase two culminates with a castor oil or prune laxative to properly eliminate all built up toxins. Phase three is the post laxative day. This is our MOST IMPORTANT MOMENT in the entire 2 weeks. How we support our system after the laxative therapy will determines the digestive re-set and repair. From here we move on to phase four, The Integration. Here is our where we continue to rebuild our AGNI or digestive fire after our mono-diet and laxative. We slowly start to ease into supportive easy to digest foods, taking care to nurture the intestinal skin and rebuild a robust digestive capacity.

This is a beautiful cleanse and an opportunity to give yourself a digestive reset, burn fat and support your body’s natural detox ability.
